Harbour Beach

ID: 132
County: West Sussex

The beach lies within a harbour and is composed of shingle and gravel, with a number of wooden groynes sloping into the sea. At low tide a small area of wet sand and gravel is exposed. Behind the beach is a small area of sand, on which sits a working lighthouse originally built in the mid-19th century, and there is a lifeboat station is adjacent to the beach. The harbour is used by a mix of commercial and leisure vessels. At the entrance to the harbour, across from the beach are the remains of a Redoubt. An interesting location for filmmakers.
